YouTube will begin exclusively streaming the Oscars from 2029, offering a free global broadcast to viewers worldwide. The partnership will also include red carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes content and access to digital Academy Museum exhibitions through Google Arts & Culture, aiming to broaden the ceremony’s reach and attract a new generation of film fans.
Starting in 2029, YouTube will exclusively broadcast the Oscars worldwide for free, marking a major shift in how the iconic awards ceremony is shared with audiences. YouTube said, “Beginning in 2029, the Oscars will broadcast exclusively on YouTube for free globally and on YouTube TV in the U.S., plus feature red carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes content and Governors Ball access.” Additionally, Google Arts & Culture will provide digital access to select Academy Museum exhibitions and help digitise the Academy Collection.
