Dozens of masked men armed with sticks stormed a plant nursery in the occupied West Bank and brutally beat Basim Saleh Yassin, a 67-year-old Palestinian, according to witnesses and security camera footage obtained by the Associated Press. The video shows men dressed mostly in black, faces covered, kicking and striking Yassin as he lay on the ground. Family members who own the nursery said Israeli settlers attacked Yassin as he tried to flee the facility in the village of Deir Sharaf. Because Yassin is deaf, he could not hear workers warning him to escape. He is hospitalised with broken bones in his hand and injuries to his face, chest and back. Four cars at the nursery were burned and destroyed. The assault comes amid rising settler violence across the West Bank. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the attackers “a handful of extremists,” while rights groups say such attacks have become a near-daily occurrence.
