Johannesburg, January 29: At least 11 people, including a schoolchild, were killed Thursday morning following a head-on collision between a minibus taxi and a truck in South Africa’s eastern KwaZulu-Natal province. Local officials and emergency services confirmed the crash occurred on the R102 near Durban. Preliminary witness reports suggest the truck driver attempted a U-turn, leading to the fatal impact. First responders from ALS Paramedics described a chaotic scene where the minibus was pinned against a tree. In addition to the deceased, eight others sustained critical injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. The driver of the minibus remained trapped in the wreckage for a significant period during rescue efforts.
