India have included middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari in their playing XI for the fifth and final Test against England at the Oval in London. Vihari comes in place of all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The 24-year-old was added to the Indian squad after the third Test. He was originally added as cover to Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Kohli handed him the Test cap and with it, Vihari became the 292nd player to represent India. Vihari, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, has been impressive in the domestic cricket. In the unofficial Test series against South Africa A, Vihari showcased his form and scored a century apart from a half-century. Vihari averages just a touch under 60 in 63 First-Class matches and has scored 5,142 runs, which includes 15 centuries. Vihari can bowl off-break as well.

In an interview with BCCI’s official website, Vihari said that it is tough to get into the team India and once he gets the opportunity he will try to make it count. Meanwhile, England have already sealed the five-match Test series 3-1 and will be looking to extend their dominance in Alastair Cook’s farewell Test. The former England captain after the fourth Test had announced that the 5th Test against India will be his last.
