It was an important wicket at that time. Maxwell was promoted at number three after openers Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja shared 193 runs for the opening wicket. Maxwell’s promotion worked for Australia before he was sent back. The right-hander scored 47 runs off 31 balls and during his stay he slammed three fours and as many sixes.
Australia soon lost the momentum despite a good start and managed 313 in allowed 50 overs. At one stage, the visitors were looking set for the 350-run mark. Khawaja was top-scorer for Australia with 104 runs followed by Finch’s 93.
