India started their campaign in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 by taking on Pakistan in the opening match. It was a match between the arch-rivals and in the end, it was India who emerged on the winning side.  It was rain-intervened game and the match had to be decided by DLS. India secured a victory by a margin of two runs via the DLS method. India and Pakistan were drafted in the same group alongside Kuwait. Earlier, Pakistan kickstarted their campaign by defeating Kuwait. Now with India winning, India and Pakistan are the favourites for advancing to the quarterfinals from Pool C.  The 12 teams are divided into four pools of three, playing a single round-robin in the group stage. The Hong Kong Sixes is played in a six-over format with six players per side. Robin Uthappa scored 28 runs and Bharat Chipli scored 24 runs as India posted a total of 86 runs on board. Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten after scoring 17 runs. Pakistan had a good start in the run-chase, but rain arrived and play was stopped after the third over, as they got to 41/1. In the end, India secured a two-run win via DLS method. Earlier, during the Asia Cup 2025, BCCI introduced a 'no handshake' policy with the Pakistan cricketers and support staff. On three occasions, when India faced Pakistan, captain Suryakumar Yadav and co avoided the mandatory handshake with the Pakistan captain, cricketers and support staff. Even after India won the Asia Cup 2025, controversy erupted as India refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who was the ACC Chairman. In Asian Youth Games, India refused handshake with Pakistan ahead of a youth Kabaddi game. Now it is the India team in the Hong Kong Sixes, who opt out of a handshake.
