Former Australian captain Michael Clarke posted a touching tribute on the fourth anniversary of Phillip Hughesā€™ death. On November 27, 2014 Hughes breathed his last. He was hit by a bouncer from Sean Abbott during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground and two days later he died. While trying to play a pull shot, Hughes was hit on the neck, and it caused a cerebral haemorrhage. The batsman was rushed to the hospital and underwent a surgery, but he lost the battle. The Australian batsman was 26 when the tragedy struck.

Hughesā€™ death made cricketers rethink about the helmets and since the majority of the batsmen had added a protective part on the back of the helmet over the neck. Meanwhile, on Hughesā€™ fourth death anniversary, Clarke, who was known to share a good bond with the late cricketer, took to social media and wrote, ā€œI will see you againā€ along with a photo of him and Hughes.Ā 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks Anniversary: Sachin Tendulkar Pays Tribute to Martyrs; Says, ā€˜We Shall Stand United And Tall Against Terrorā€™

Clarke later revealed that it was difficult for him to play cricket after Hughesā€™ death. "I shouldn't have played another game. My career should have stopped then. It was too hard for me," he was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.

"It took me a lot longer to grieve his loss than it should have, or that I would have liked. I didn't allow myself to grieve at the time because I had responsibility to his family, firstly, but then also as Australia's cricket captain to my teammates and getting us back out onto the field,ā€ Clarke.

When this tragedy took place, India team was on tour of Australia and Virat Kohli along with the then team director Ravi Shastri and coach Duncan Fletcher attended Hughesā€™ funeral. Following Hughesā€™ death the first Test between India and Australia was also postponed by five days.
