Priyanshu Moliya, Mentored by Mohinder Amarnath Smashed 556 Runs During an Under-14 Tournament

Priyanshu Moliya smashed unbeaten 556 during the Shri DK Gaekwad under-14 tournament. Priyanshu, 14, playing for Mohinder Lala Amarnath Cricket Academy played the mammoth knock against Yogi Cricket Academy in a two-day fixture at the Vadodara Cricket Academy (VCA) ground. Besides his tall batting effort, Priyanshu, who bowls off-spin, also claimed four wickets. At the end of day one, Priyanshu was batting on 408 and the next day he added another 148 to complete his towering knock of 556 off 319 balls. Apart from him, Wicketkeeper-batsman Het Barot and Ballal Chaulkar contributed 62 and 60 respectively. The Mohinder Lala Amarnath Cricket Academy then declared their innings on 826 for four. And then dismissed Yogi CA for cheaply once again for 84 in their second innings. Priyanshu picked two wickets and his side sealed a 689 run-victory.

Speaking about Priyanshu’s effort, Mohinder Amarnath said that the 14-year-old is a fine talent. "When I saw him for the first time, I knew I was seeing something special. He is a fine talent and he will get better with exposure. I like his passion as well," Mohinder told mid-day last night. The former batting star also felt Priyanshu would do well if he plays for a club in Mumbai,” Amarnath was quoted as saying by mid-day.

Meanwhile, Priyanshu revealed that how Amarnath helped him improve his game. "Mohinder sir always watches me bat in the nets. He spoke to me about various drills and how to control different shots. After doing those drills regularly, I scored a lot of runs through the covers and got better with my back foot punches. I called Mohinder sir today [Tuesday] and he was very happy with my performance. 'Keep it up', he said," revealed Priyanshu.
