The 28-year-old dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva, Isru Udana and Captain Lasith Malinga in his final over of the game as he finished the match with the figures of 3/23 in his quota of four overs. Shardul Thakur was at his absolute best as he dismissed three Sri Lankan batsman in his final over of the match. de Silva, Isru Udana and skipper Lasith Malinga were the three players who fell victim to Thakur’s brilliance. The pacer got his first wicket of the game in Dhanajaya de Silva as the all-rounder was caught at mid-off by Shivam Dube. Isru Udana was the second batsman to be dismissed by Shardul as he was bamboozled by a slower delivery. Udana attempted to clear the ball over the cover region for a boundary but could only find the hands of Navdeep Saini. Lasith Malinga was the next to be dismissed on the following delivery but this time it was a fiery bouncer by the Indian pacer. Speaking of the match, Jasprit Bumrah had a fine comeback to international cricket as his dismissal of Dasun Shanaka made him the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is – tied with Ravi Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal on 52 wickets. The visitors got some momentum in the final over as Hasaranga smashed Bumrah for three consecutive boundaries and those 12 runs could be very important in the final outcome of the match.
