Indian cricketing sensation Shreyanka Patil has once again captured national attention, not just with her prowess on the field, but with her vibrant personality off it. In a recent appearance on Sports Today on August 26, the charismatic Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and India bowler recreated the viral dance steps to the Bollywood hit 'Babli Badmaash Hai', a routine that has become synonymous with her social media presence. Patil, who turned 24 on July 31, 2026, has been a vocal proponent of self-expression. During an interaction at the Karnataka Roundtable, coinciding with her Sports Today feature, she addressed the online criticism head-on. "I'm not shy about saying that because I'm comfortable with who I am. I'm comfortable dancing to any song and doing what makes me happy. I love doing what I love, and trolls are just going to remain trolls. They're probably just jealous that I'm doing well," Patil stated emphatically.

The Viral Dance and Its Context

The 'Babli Badmaash Hai' dance, originally from the 2013 Bollywood film Shootout At Wadala, first gained significant traction through Patil's social media posts. These videos, often shared during her recovery periods, sparked a mixed reaction, with some fans questioning her focus on dancing while injured. However, Patil sees the attention, whether positive or negative, as beneficial. "I mean, honestly, it gives me a lot of attention. People are actually seeing me and saying, 'Oh, she's doing so well.' Whether you troll me, criticise me or appreciate me, I think it's all for my good," she added.

A Season of Highs and Lows

Shreyanka Patil has had a career marked by both significant achievements and challenging setbacks. She was a crucial part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad that clinched their second Women's Premier League (WPL) title in 2026. Despite returning from a prior injury, she impressed by taking 11 wickets across 9 games, finishing as the 9th highest wicket-taker and securing a maiden five-wicket haul (5/23) against the Gujarat Giants, which was the best bowling performance of the season. However, her journey has been punctuated by injuries. She was notably ruled out of the 2025 WPL edition and, more recently, sustained a right ankle ligament injury during India's Women's T20 World Cup 2026 match against the Netherlands on June 17, forcing her out of the tournament. Despite this, she was still named in India's squad for the Asian Games 2026, highlighting her importance to the national team.

Patil's determination to bounce back from injuries has been a recurring theme in her career. Her dance reels serve as a testament to her resilient spirit and her refusal to let setbacks dampen her enthusiasm, both on and off the cricket field.
