The Indian captain is now the fastest batsman to score 20,000 international runs as he goes past former batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. Kohli achieved the feat against West Indies during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (CWC 2019) match at Manchester. While Tendulkar and Lara, both took 453 innings across formats to complete 20k international runs, the 30-year-old batsman joined the elite club after in 416 innings (131 in Tests, 223 in ODIs and 62 in T20Is). Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is on the fourth spot as he took 468 innings.

Apart from Tendulkar and Kohli, Rahul Dravid is the other Indian to have scored over 20,000 international runs. Overall, Kohli became the 12th batsman to achieve the milestone. Earlier during the ongoing World Cup, Kohli completed 11,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The Indian captain reached the milestone of 11,000 runs against Pakistan and broke another of Tendulkar's record to become the fastest batsman to reach 11,000 runs in ODIs.
