The opening pair India, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir have given us many memorable innings which we relish till date. The two are often labelled as Jai and Viru by their fans. Viru and Gauti are all set to come back, but this time off the ground. This time the two will be creating a roadmap for the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA).

They will be making decisions related to selecting coaches, selectors and other issues related to the game. Akash Chopra and Rahul Sanghvi will be joining the duo. DDCA President Rajat Sharma in the press release mentioned that the committee has been formed keeping in mind the Lodha Committee recommendations.

In a series of tweets, Rajat Sharma wrote, “I am pleased to share with you the constitution of Cricket Committee as per the recommendations made by the Lodha Committee and the BCCI guidelines for the State Associations. (1/3).”

“The cricket committee comprises of following former cricket players i. Virender Sehwag – Former International Player ii. Rahul Sanghvi – Former International Player iii. Aakash Chopra – Former International Player. (2/3),” read the second tweet.

“Mr Gautam Gambhir, current player will be special invitee to the Committee. The  Cricket Committee is authorised to form various Selection Committees and to give valuable guidance to the Association for the improvement of Cricket in Delhi. (3/3) #DDCA @delhi_cricket,” read the last tweet.

The decision however raised questions on conflict of interest. Some questions asked are how can Gautam Gambhir have a say in the coaches and selectors being an active cricketer himself? Sehwag who is a cricket expert on India TV is owned by Rajat Sharma and also has a cricket academy. Sanghvi is associated to Mumbai Indians and Sanghvi is a cricket expert on various channels. DDCA secretary Vinod Tihara confessed that this is a practical issue but paramount was having the top names in Delhi cricket on board.

While speaking about the remuneration part, Tihara told PTI, “We haven't decided on that part but Gautam will be a special invitee." When further asked if he would have a say in selection of selectors and coach, Tihara replied: "Of course he would have a role. I understand your question on Conflict of Interest but if we strictly follow Lodha recommendations, we won't get quality people on cricket committee."
