Gaurav Bhatia Files INR 2 Crore Defamation Suit Against CJP's Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka
BJP leader and Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia has filed an INR 2 crore defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against the Cockroach Janta Party and its leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and Abhijeet Dipke. The legal action comes in response to an AI-generated social media post that falsely attributed controversial remarks to Bhatia regarding an ongoing assault case.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia has filed a defamation suit seeking INR 2 crore in damages and an injunction before the Delhi High Court against the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and its key figures. The defamation case has been filed against Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
The legal action follows the online circulation of an artificial intelligence-generated graphic that falsely attributed controversial remarks about Swatantra Bhardwaj to Bhatia concerning an ongoing assault case, reports Bar and Bench. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bhatia said, "Tomorrow, this defamation case will be listed for hearing before the Hon'ble Delhi High Court." Gaurav Bhatia Demands INR 2 Crore in Defamation Damages Against CJP Leaders

Defamation Suit Over AI-Generated Content
The controversy erupted after an AI-manipulated graphic surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), falsely claiming that Bhatia had referred to Swatantra Bhardwaj - an individual accused of assaulting the father of CJP activist Nishu Azad - as a "dimagi naxal". CJP leader Saurav Das shared the disputed graphic online, prompting an immediate rebuttal from Bhatia. The BJP leader denied making any such remarks and issued a 24-hour ultimatum demanding the immediate removal of the post alongside an unconditional public apology.
Although Das subsequently deleted the post, he defended the action on X by acknowledging that the material was AI-generated while publicly questioning whether Bhatia disagreed with the underlying sentiment. Meanwhile, CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka amplified the contentious graphic by reposting it with a caption critical of BJP leadership. Legal Action and Next Steps
Faced with what he termed a deliberate attempt to fabricate false statements and create a misleading nexus, Bhatia moved the Delhi High Court under its ordinary original civil jurisdiction, naming Das, Ranka, Abhijeet Dipke, and the CJP as defendants. Bhatia stated that the dispute would be settled strictly through judicial proceedings rather than online exchanges. The matter is set for an initial hearing before the High Court.
