Gold Coast [Australia] April 7: A dominant Indian badminton team continued their unbeaten streak at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games as they advanced into the semi-finals of the mixed-team event with a 3-0 win over Mauritius on Saturday.

India will now clash with Singapore to secure a berth in the final. The men duo of Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty gave India a winning start by defeating Mauritius' Aatish Lubah and Christopher Jean Paul. The Indian pair disposed of their opponents 21-12, 21-3 in 26 minutes.

In the second team game, the women pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy beat Aurelie Allet and Nicki Chan-Lam 21-8, 21-7 in 21 minutes to give their side a 2-0 advantage over Mauritius. World No. 2 Kidambi Srikanth then thrashed Georges Julien Paul 21-12, 21-14 to win the men's singles in 29 minutes and give India and unassailable 3-0 lead. Earlier, India outclassed Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Scotland by 5-0 in group stages to make it to the quarter-finals.

The Indian weightlifting contingent got some good news as Sathish Sivalingam won gold medal in men’s 77-kg category in Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The 25-year-old lifted a combined 317 kg in total (144 kg in snatch and 173 kg in clean and jerk) to add another gold in India’s medal tally at GC 2018. After Sathish Sivalingam’s gold, India consolidates its third-place position at the Commonwealth Games 2018 medal standings.They have won a total of five medals including 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
