In unfortunate news from the world of sports, Indian Jujitsu player Rohini Kalam has passed away, after the martial arts coach was found dead at her home in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, on October 26. As per a report in India Today, the family members took Rohini to a local hospital, who declared the international Jujitsu dead on arrival, with police stating Rohini died by suicide despite a lack of a suicide note at the scene.

The report further suggests that Roshini stated to the police that her elder sister worked as a martial arts coach at a private school in Ashta, and was undergoing stress at her job, before returning home on Saturday, and completed her routine on Sunday morning, before going to her room after talking to someone on the phone. At the time of the unfortunate incident on Sunday, Rohini's mother was visiting the temple with another daughter, while the father went out for some work.

"She was worried about her job. The faculty at her school were troubling her. Her school's principal was troubling her. She was worried about her job. Police have registered a case at Bank Note Press police station and have begun an investigation to solve the circumstances behind the Jujitsu player's passing away, with post-mortem examination reports still awaited.

Rohini began her sports career in 2007 and became a jujitsu artist in 2015, before representing India at the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, while winning multiple medals at the Asian Jujitsu Championships in 2022 and 2024 editions.
