Hosts Nepal dominated the Day 2 of the South Asian Games 2019. They clinched 15 medals in the day and have tightened their grip over the multi-sport tournament. In total, they have 24 medals and are at the pinnacle of the medals tally. India are placed in the second position with 14 medals and will eye cut the gap between them and Nepal on Day 3. India men’s badminton side displayed a good show on the second day and they mauled Pakistan and Sri Lanka to clinch gold. Their women’s side also defeated Pakistan in the semis and then thrashed Sri Lanka only to claim gold medals. Apart from that, Indian men’s kho-kho side entered in the semi-finals by registering consecutive victories against Nepal and Bangladesh. They will take on Sri Lanka in the semi-finals and will seek to secure the silver medal. India is been represented by 487 athletes in more than 15 disciplines played in Kathmandu Nepal. In the last edition of the multi-sports event in 2016, India were the most dominant side with 308 medals. In fact, they are the most successful side in the tournament’s history with 1100 medals. The ongoing tournament kicked off on December 1 and will end on December 10. As of now, Nepal are at the top position in medals tally and other sides will eye to turn the tables around.
