What Is Enhanced Games, Set To Take Place at Resorts World in Las Vegas? Drug-Related Rules and How To Watch

The inaugural Enhanced Games is set to take place on Sunday, May 24, at Resorts World Las Vegas, bringing together professional athletes from around the world in a controversial sporting event that openly permits the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Nicknamed by critics and fans as the “Doping Olympics” or “Steroid Olympics,” the competition will feature around 50 athletes competing in swimming, weightlifting and track events while using performance enhancers of their own choice.

What Are the Enhanced Games?

The idea for the Enhanced Games was first conceived in 2022 and officially announced in 2023. Organisers say the event is designed to challenge traditional anti-doping systems in global sports and create a platform where athletes can compete without restrictions on performance-enhancing substances. GTA 6 Release Date: Pre-Orders Expected To Start This Week, Trailer 3 Coming Soon; All About Grand Thefft Auto 6 Coming This Novembe.

Max Martin, CEO and co-founder of the Enhanced Games, said the organisers wanted athletes to be “healthy, safe, better paid and happier than they've ever been before.”

The event has drawn strong criticism from major sports governing bodies, including the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee. Elon Musk Announces xAI’s Game Studio Will Launch AI-Generated Game Before End of Next Year.

WADA chief Witold Banka described the competition as dangerous, while Benjamin Cohen, director general of the International Testing Agency, dismissed comparisons with the Olympics.

“I’ve heard some people calling it the ‘Doping Olympics,’ but even using the word ‘Olympics’ (is a stretch),” Cohen said.

Donald Trump Jr’s Investment Firm Backing Event

The event has also gained attention because of backing from Donald Trump Jr.’s investment firm, 1789 Capital, which joined billionaire investor Peter Thiel on the cap table of the company behind the Games.

The parent company, Enhanced, went public on May 8. However, its stock reportedly dropped by nearly half to 5.24 USD by Friday afternoon.

Drug-Related Rules at Enhanced Games

Unlike traditional international competitions, athletes at the Enhanced Games are allowed to use performance-enhancing drugs under what organisers describe as medically supervised conditions.

The organisers say there are no standard anti-doping bans in place, though athletes are expected to disclose substances used and undergo health monitoring.

The competition has raised concerns among sports authorities, who argue that allowing unrestricted enhancement could endanger athlete safety and undermine fair competition.

Prize Money and Athlete Participation

The Enhanced Games are offering lucrative rewards, including 250,000 USD in first prizes and bonuses of up to 1 million USD for record-breaking performances in marquee events such as the men’s 100m sprint.

One of the biggest names participating is Fred Kerley, the 2022 world 100m champion with a personal best of 9.76 seconds.

Although Sebastian Coe has warned that athletes competing in the event could face lengthy bans, Kerley dismissed concerns over possible punishment.

“I will compete at the Olympics in 2028. They can't do nothing. We, us athletes, pay the bills. They don't pay our bills,” Kerley said.
