Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic PBC has secured a major USD 10 billion agreement for computing capacity with Volta Infra Holdings Ltd., a cloud infrastructure startup backed by Nvidia Corp. The six-year contract marks the Claude maker's latest initiative to secure sufficient resources to support soaring commercial and consumer demand.

As per a Bloomberg report, the computing infrastructure will be hosted at a data center site in Norway managed in partnership with Bitcoin miner Bitdeer Technologies Group. The facility is set to provide 133 megawatts of capacity, utilizing Nvidia's advanced Vera Rubin chips. Founded in January by former Brookfield Asset Management executives, Volta also announced a USD 300 million venture funding round that values the startup at USD 2.4 billion. Spotify AI Remix Update: Music Streaming Giant Partners With Merlin to Bring Indie Labels to Expand AI Remix Tool for Indies.

Expanding Infrastructure and Industry Partnerships

Anthropic has pursued compute resources aggressively over recent months. The company has previously established agreements with Elon Musk's SpaceX, Advanced Micro Devices Inc., and Akamai Technologies Inc., alongside exploring potential data center leases with Meta Platforms Inc.

The immense financial demands of scaling AI development have driven major labs to partner with diverse cloud providers and specialized infrastructure networks. Rivals such as OpenAI are similarly pursuing massive multi-billion-dollar data center projects, reflecting an intense race across the technology sector to secure physical computing power.

Financing and Market Scrutiny

The rapid expansion of AI infrastructure financing has drawn attention to the complex web of financial dependencies between chip manufacturers, cloud startups, and AI developers. Industry observers note that circular funding structures and heavy investments from key hardware suppliers introduce potential market risks if long-term demand for artificial intelligence applications fails to meet expectations. NVIDIA Alpamayo 2 Super Released for Commercial Autonomous Driving; Check Key Features.

Despite these broader concerns, Anthropic continues to scale its operations rapidly following a substantial funding round earlier this year. The company is actively positioning itself to support expanding enterprise workloads while maintaining a competitive pace within the global artificial intelligence landscape.
