A man in Kalyan, Thane district, was booked for brutally assaulting his two-year-old son by slamming him on the floor and burning his fingers on a hot plate because the child avoided him. Accused Rahul Suresh Visale also hit his wife with a broom during a court-mandated reconciliation trial. Police have registered a case under the BNS and JJ Act; the accused is yet to be arrested.
A man has been booked in Kalyan in Maharashtra's Thane district for allegedly assaulting his two-year-old son, slamming him on the floor and scalding his hand with a hot plate, reportedly because the toddler avoided him at home, a police official said on Saturday, September 19. The accused has been identified as Rahul Suresh Visale, a resident of Parnaka in Kalyan West.
Visale and his wife Rohini have been embroiled in marital disputes, with the issue having reached court previously, according to officials from the Bazarpeth police station, PTI reported. According to Rohiniās complaint, the incident occurred at around 11:00 pm on September 13. Visale allegedly became enraged when he saw the child avoiding him at home and slammed the toddler on the floor.
Detailing the severity of the attack, the Bazarpeth police station official said: āVisale pressed then pressed the childās hand on a hot plate, resulting in three of the childās fingers getting scalded. The accused also assaulted Rohini when she intervened to protect her child. The couple had been facing ongoing domestic issues prior to the incident. āThe couple has been facing marital disputes, and a matter had previously reached the court. The court recently advised Rohini to live with her husband for two months to attempt a reconciliation. Following these directions, Rohini had moved from her parentsā home back to her husbandās residence at Parnaka,ā the official said.
In her statement to the police, Rohini alleged that her husband harboured lingering resentment over their previous disputes, which culminated in the violent outburst against her and their child.
Following the complaint, the Bazarpeth police registered a case against Rahul Suresh Visale under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.Ā Police confirmed that the accused is yet to be arrested, and efforts are underway to trace him as the investigation proceeds.
