JioPhone 3 Likely Come With Bigger 5-inch Touchscreen Display & Android OS - Report

After revolutionizing the 4G feature phone space, Reliance Jio is expected to introduce new JioPhone 3 device in the Indian market soon. Some new details about the new JioPhone has surfaced online. Taking this information into consideration, it is believed that the forthcoming device will feature a full touchscreen smartphone. The upcoming smartphone will be Jio's first device to feature a 5-inch touchscreen display with 2GB of RAM. The handset is also expected to carry internal memory of 64GB along with expandable storage. However, there are no details about the chipset and OS; but Android OS seems to be only option here.

In the camera department, the smartphone is also expected to carry upgraded 5MP rear camera along with LED flash. For selfies, there will be a 2MP shooter. The company is expected to employ a bigger battery on the next JioPhone. Considering these upgrades, the phone is likely to cost premium to the predecessor - JioPhone 2. We speculate that the new JioPhone 3 could be priced around Rs 4500. The speculated pricing is almost triple the price of the original JioPhone (Rs 1500). As a reminder, JioPhone 2 costs Rs 2999.

The company is expected to launch the new JioPhone 3 in June this year while the pre-orders could start from July itself. However, it is not clear yet if the company will be offering any exchange program for JioPhone 2. Previously, several rumours surfaced claiming that the company will be launching an affordable 4G smartphones with large displays. Reliance Jio is said to be working with Flex Ltd which is a US-based design manufacturer. As far as JioPhone 2 is concerned, the 4G feature phone is powered by KaiOS and features 2.4-inch colour display. Featuring a candy bar design, the feature phone from Reliance Jio gets QWERTY keypad.
