Multi-cloud and hyperconverged software specialist Nutanix has announced plans to reduce its global workforce by approximately 5 percent over the next three months. The organisational restructuring is designed to streamline operations, improve business agility, and redirect capital investments toward key growth areas such as artificial intelligence and infrastructure modernization.

As per a report by CRN, the company detailed the workforce adjustment in a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, estimating that the termination costs and severance packages will total between USD 33 million and USD 43 million. The restructuring initiative is scheduled for completion by the end of October. AI Layoffs Fueling New Startups and Creating Future Competitors? Here's What Report Says.

Restructuring Strategy and Resource Reallocation

According to executive statements, the company intends to realign team sizes to support divisions driving maximum long-term value. This includes targeted investments in artificial intelligence, modern application platforms like NKP, infrastructure modernization via external storage solutions, and expanding customer-facing sales resources.

As per a report by SDxCentral, the workforce cuts come despite solid financial performance. Nutanix recently reported third-quarter revenues of USD 703 million, marking a 10 percent year-over-year growth rate alongside a 15 percent increase in annual recurring revenue.

Market Position and Customer Influx

The business growth has been heavily supported by capturing migrating enterprise clients seeking alternatives following Broadcom's acquisition of VMware. Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Ramaswami noted that customer sentiment regarding Broadcom remains challenging, prompting hundreds of new organisations to transition to Nutanix platforms each quarter. Notice Period Cut From 90 to 30 Days, Viral Social Media Post Sparks Layoff Panic Online (See Post).

Despite positive client acquisition metrics, the company remains cautious regarding broader macroeconomic pressures. Persistent supply chain bottlenecks have driven up hardware pricing and extended delivery lead times for server infrastructure, prompting the vendor to emphasize flexible software licensing terms and hybrid-multicloud choices to assist customer deployments.
