Mumbai, March 25: Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G in the Indian market. According to a dedicated microsite that went live today, the new handset is set to debut on April 2, 2026. The device will succeed the Redmi Note 14 SE and is expected to be available through Flipkart and the company's official retail channels.

The primary reason for this launch is Redmi’s strategy to refresh its budget-friendly Note lineup with significantly improved hardware, including a brighter display and a higher-resolution camera system. Early teasers suggest a premium design shift, featuring a deep red finish and a gold-coloured metal frame, leading to speculation that the device is a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 15 New Year Cherry Red Edition previously seen in China. Oppo Find X9 Pro Users Receive Android 17 Beta 2 Update as ColourOS Opens Early Access.

Redmi Note 15 SE 5G Specifications (Expected)

The Redmi Note 15 SE 5G is expected to feature a 6.77-inch AMOLED display, a slight increase from the 6.67-inch panel found on its predecessor. The new screen is tipped to support a 120Hz refresh rate and reach a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, which would be a substantial upgrade over the 2,100 nits offered by the previous model.

Under the hood, the smartphone is likely to move away from MediaTek silicon in favour of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. This transition aims to provide more efficient 5G connectivity and improved processing power for mid-range users. The device is also expected to include a 5,520mAh battery with 45W fast charging support, catering to demands for longer battery life.

Photography appears to be a major focus for the new SE variant. Reports indicate the phone may sport a 108-megapixel primary rear camera, more than doubling the 50-megapixel count of the Note 14 SE. This main sensor is expected to be paired with an 8-megapixel secondary lens, while a 20-megapixel front camera will handle selfies and video calls.

For the first time in this specific sub-series, the device is expected to carry both IP65 and IP66 ratings. These certifications would provide the handset with enhanced resistance against dust and high-pressure water jets, offering better durability compared to earlier generations.

The launch comes at a time of shifting price dynamics in the Indian smartphone sector. While the Redmi Note 14 SE originally launched below INR 15,000, its price was later adjusted to INR 19,999 on official listings. Industry analysts attribute these fluctuations to rising global memory and component costs. Samsung Galaxy A57, Samsung Galaxy A37 Smartphones Launch Today in India.

Consequently, the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G is expected to enter the market at a slightly higher price point than its predecessor's original launch. By positioning the Note 15 SE with premium aesthetics and high-resolution optics, Xiaomi aims to maintain its competitive edge in the sub-INR 20,000 segment against rivals from Samsung and Realme.
