Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone lineup has recorded strong initial sales momentum in India, receiving over 2,71,000 pre-orders within the first 72 hours following its official launch on July 22. The figures reflect a sharp increase in adoption speed compared to the previous generation. During last year’s release, it took 15 days for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 to reach a comparable pre-order volume in the Indian market.

A key driver of this year’s demand is expanding interest outside major urban centers. According to company data, approximately 45% of total pre-orders originated from Tier 2 cities and smaller regional markets, indicating broader geographic appeal for high-end foldable devices. The newly introduced lineup includes three models spanning different pricing tiers within the ultra-premium category:

• Galaxy Z Flip 8: Starts at ₹1,24,999, featuring a redesigned cover screen with integrated AI assistance and a 50MP camera setup.

• Galaxy Z Fold 8: Starts at ₹1,79,999, offering a lighter 201-gram chassis, a 10:16 cover display, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

To boost accessibility, Samsung partnered with financial institutions to offer payment options including a 30-month, zero-down-payment, no-cost EMI scheme alongside bank cashback offers.

Based on early trajectory, company executives expressed confidence that the Galaxy Z 8th-generation series could match the pre-order performance of the flagship Galaxy S26 lineup introduced earlier this year. General retail availability across India is set to begin on August 8.
