As OnePlus 6 is leading the Indian premium smartphone space, Samsung is looking to introduce a new device to counter OnePlus's hold in the segment. As per the report from Counterpoint, OnePlus emerged as a premium smartphone segment leader for the first time in a full quarter in Q2 2018. The Chinese smartphone maker now holds 40% of the market share, while Samsung slipped to the second position. Moreover, the Korean smartphone making company is also facing heavy competition in the budget segment from the rivals like Xiaomi, Asus, and Honor. With new reports emerging from the market, Samsung India is looking to refresh its Galaxy A series with a new smartphone. The future smartphone from Samsung is expected to be launched later this month. To be positioned in the premium smartphone space, the device is supposed to be priced above Rs. 30,000 marks. As a reminder, Samsung Galaxy A8+ was launched in the country last year as a competitor to OnePlus 5T. However, the device failed to make an impact against OnePlus 5T. As far as the specifications are concerned, the IANS report has revealed major specs of the phone. The handset will be the first Samsung device to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 chipset. The device is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Infinity Display, a dual rear camera module (16MP + 24MP) with Live Focus feature, a 24MP front snapper, 6GB of RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage and much more. Once launched in the country, the new Galaxy A-Series smartphone will be pitted against the likes of Asus ZenFone 5Z, Huawei Nova 3, OnePlus 6 and forthcoming Xiaomi Poco F1. Moreover, the new Galaxy A series phone will be the next big product launch from the Korean smartphone maker followed by Galaxy Note 9. The company will be launching the new flagship smartphone in India on August 22, which can be pre-ordered via Amazon India and Flipkart. As far as the pricing is concerned, the new Galaxy Note 9 is priced at Rs. 67,900 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt-storage variant. Moreover, Samsung is also offering a heavy discount of Rs. 12,000 on Note 8.
