Hyderabad, July 17: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is likely to make a second attempt to launch the Chandrayaan 2 mission on Sunday afternoon (July 21) or early hours of Monday (July 22), according to a Times of India report. While ISRO is yet to confirm the date and time, a scientist quoted in the report has confirmed that the space agency is 'hopeful' of launch by Monday, July 22. Chandrayaan 2 Launch Called Off For Today Due to Technical Snag, ISRO To Announce New Launch Date For India's Second Moon Mission Later.

The launch of India's second mission to Moon was called off on July 15 following a technical snag in the 'Bahubali' rocket.  The launch of the most ambitious space mission was aborted less than an hour before its scheduled lift-off at 2:51 AM on Monday.

The second moon mission comes eleven years after the first one and is said to have an aim to explore the dark side of the Moon after it lands on the cosmic body's south polar region. India has spent about $140 million to get Chandrayaan-2 ready for the 384,400 kilometres (around 240,000 miles) trip from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre to the scheduled landing on the lunar South Pole on September 6.
