New Delhi, August 5: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on July 22 successfully launched the Chandrayaan-2 mission. While ISRO scientists deserve the credit, but Puri Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati’s Vedic mathematics also significantly contributed to the lunar mission. According to reports, the space mission officials consulted Govardhana Matha seer before the launch of the moon mission. Sharing the details, Govardhan Matha's public relations officer, Manoj Ratha said, “Guru Nischalananda met the scientists to implement theorems and calculations enumerated in Vedic treatises like Puranas and Bhagwad Gita to achieve success in the mission as India was a pioneer in mathematics, astronomy, missile technology thousands of years ago.”

Nischalananda Saraswati is not just a guru but also an expert Vedic mathematician. According to him, there is a connection of water and Earth with the Moon in Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta and Vishnu Puran. As per Bhishma Parva, the diameter of Moon is 11,000 yojana, One yojana is equal to approximately 12.2 km. While its circumference and thickness are 33,000 and 59 yojanas respectively.
