An Ohio kid, identified as 12-year-old Jackson Hepner was holidaying at The Inn at Honey Run in Millersburg with his family. Little did they know, that the property could be hiding such ancient treasures that would make their trip even more memorable. Hepner and his family gathered at a bridge over Honey Run Creek, posing for pictures. It was then when the 12-year-old boy spotted something unusual in appearance along the water’s edge. The researchers confirmed it to be an upper 3rd molar of a Woolly Mammoth and the fossil is believed to be at least 10,000-year-old. Hepner pulled the item from the mud and at time of his discovery, he was sure that it was some kind of tooth. In an account of the discovery, the boy wrote, “I found the mammoth tooth about ten yards upstream from the bridge we had our family pictures on. It was partially buried on the left side of the creek. The Inn resort, in its official article, stated that after discovery, the item was identified by popular scholars and archaeologists in Ohio. They confirmed it to be the tooth of a Woolly Mammoth, specifically an upper 3rd molar. Now the 12-year-old wants his treasure back so that he can show his friends and boast about his discovery.
