Facebook, at its annual F8 developers’ conference, declared that WhatsApp will be rolling out a slew of features in coming weeks. WhatsApp will get an added feature of ‘Group Video Calling’, something which is awaited for a long time now. Also, WhatsApp will see an addition of Stickers, to its already large Emojis offering.

It does not stop at that. There will be quite a few additions to WhatsApp Business App too. Mubarik Imam, who is currently the WhatsApp Director, confirmed these developments at the recent annual event.

In its new video calling feature, four people can join a conference video call at a time. The same was demonstrated by Mubarik at the annual conference. The group video calling feature will be rolled out in paucity initially, until it is released as a major beta update for the users to upgrade, later on.

At the annual event, the WhatsApp Director said that WhatsApp is being used by 450 million users daily. The millions of consumers are creating 2 billion minutes of video and audio calling on WhatsApp.

Drawing inspiration from its competitors, WhatsApp is also set to roll out Stickers’ feature in some time. Other chat apps Hike, WeChat, and Line are some of the popular mobile applications that use the much-loved Stickers feature currently. The company announced that the sticker service will currently be made available to the developers’ only. On the basis of their experimentation and usage, the company will be rolling out the feature, in due time.

There are a couple of changes being made to WhatsApp Business App too. The company is planning to expand its monetisation reach, as it will now be charging big brands for additional features on offer. Reportedly, the WhatsApp Business App updates will be rolled out by the end of this year. WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum Quits Facebook.

Whether the addition of features is being rolled out in its next update, isn’t confirmed yet. However, with WhatsApp Director making this announcement in its annual developers’ conference, one can expect that the features are going to be rolled out soon!
