Messaging application WhatsApp has become the most convenient way of communication today. A free messaging service only requiring an internet connection, it has been used excessively by every smartphone holder. The application too, keeps updating and introducing new features for enhanced user experience. Now in its latest update, one can switch from WhatsApp voice calls to video calls with just one tap. In the middle of a voice call, you can send a request to the other person for a video call. If the person accepts your request, it will start the video call. But this function is currently only for those who have signed up for the beta version of the app.

The beta version of the application is where the company tests upcoming features. Post the testing, the feature gets rolled out to all the other users. One can register for a beta version here.

In the current version of the application, if you wish to make a video call, you will have to disconnect a voice call and make a video call. But with the latest update, it makes for a convenient switch by just one tap. If you are on a voice call, a camera icon appears on the screen. When you press this, it sends a request to convert it into a video call. If the other person declines your request, the voice call will continue. In a further update, we may also be able to make WhatsApp voice calls to more than one person at a time. The makers are still working on it, but we may get that in the next update.

WhatsApp has been introducing remarkable features to increase its usability. Their last update allows the user to delete a message that has been sent, be it on a personal or a group chat. It was much appreciated after introducing the blue ticks feature for read messages. They also started with an option to share your live location. Along with the features, they also introduced some new emoticons. If you are not a beta version user, you may have to wait a little while to enjoy the smooth transition from voice calls to video calls.
