Xiaomi, a popular Chinese smartphone maker, on Monday launched two new smartphones - Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 A. Both the smartphones are introduced as successors to Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 A respectively. As for India, the company has not revealed any launch date yet. Coming to the prices of the new Xiaomi smartphones, Redmi 6A is priced at RMB 599 (approx. Rs. 6,300). While Redmi 6 comes in two storage variants – 3GB/32GB at RMB 799 (approx. Rs.8,500) and 4GB/64GB at RMB 899 (approx. Rs. 10,500).

Coming to the specifications, Redmi 6A sports a 5.45-inch display. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone is loaded with 16GB of internal storage and carries an expandable memory slot. At the camera department, the smartphone comes with a 13MP sensor at the back and 5MP at the front. On the other hand, Redmi 6 sports the same display as Redmi 6A. The smartphone runs on MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor and is available in32GB/3GB and 64GB/4GB variants. As for optics, the phone offers dual back cameras (12MP + 5MP) and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front.

Talking about the feature, both Redmi 6 devices come with the latest MIUI 10 and offers many AI-enabled functions. For instance, when the smartphone is picked up, the screen will automatically wake up and unlock itself with the new AI Face Unlock feature. With the new AI functions, the smartphone will incorporate Xiao AI voice assistant and AI camera which can recognize plants, vehicles, living environments as well as items for price comparison. The new voice assistant Xiao Ai can also detect SMS messages sent by fake mobile base stations set up by scammers, protecting users against possible attacks.
