Xiaomi is all set to launch a new smartphone in India under its popular sub-brand - Redmi. To be called as Redmi 8, the smartphone reportedly will debut with primary Sony sensor offering features like skin tone mapping and edge detection. The company has confirmed this information through a microsite on Mi.com. We have also seen some teasers in the past claiming that the handset will pack a 4000 mAh battery. The new Redmi 8 smartphone will be equipped with a dual rear camera module, which is now confirmed by the microsite on Mi.com. It also reveals that the smartphone will be loaded with the flagship Sony sensor that is capable of capturing images with edge detection and precise skin tone mapping.

Additionally, we could also see a waterdrop-styled notched display up front. More details about the display panel will be revealed tomorrow. However, the handset could sport an HD+ display with a resolution of 720x1520 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9.

Under the hood, the phone is likely to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, which will be mated up to 3GB of RAM. The smartphone will run on Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10. The device is likely to be introduced in four shades - Ash, Blue, Green and Red. As far as the prices are concerned, it is reported that the new Redmi 8 could be priced around the launch price of the predecessor (Redmi 7). Banking on the same, we speculate that the new Redmi 8 could be priced around Rs 7999 for the base variant with 2GB of RAM + 32GB internal storage.
