Kolkata, January 30: With the Super Bowl scheduled for February 8 in Santa Clara, one of the biggest celebrations in American sports and culture is now clouded by fear and outrage over the possible presence of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents during the event.
The tension burst into the open during a recent joint meeting of the Santa Clara City Council, city officials and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority when an unexpected figure took the floor. A man dressed as Batman used his public comment time to fiercely confront authorities for what he described as their failure to protect the people they serve. A video from the meeting, now widely shared online, shows the masked vigilante delivering an emotional speech directly to council members. “Look me in the eye. Can any one of you go home to your children and tell them that you did everything you could to protect their classmates? To protect their grandparents? To protect them. I don’t think you can,” he said. ‘Stand Up to ICE’: White House Warns of ‘1,000% Rise’ in Attacks on ICE Agents After New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani’s Video Urging Resistance.
Warning of potential ICE action during the Super Bowl, he added, “Because as of now, I stand before a council of cowards. And if you do not act, you’re not just cowards, you’re traitors to each and every individual you serve.” He demanded that the council publicly commit to not cooperating with ICE and put those policies in writing ahead of the February game.

His speech grew sharper as he pressed for accountability. “How many people have been shot? How many people have been taken? How many children have been abducted and used as bait? I don’t need to tell you that. You see it on the TV every single day. I don’t want you to sit back and watch. I want you to f***ing do something,” he said.
Social media quickly rallied behind the caped speaker. “He’s not the hero we deserve, but the one we need right now,” one user wrote. Another commented, “He’s the real deal. He’s out in the streets fighting for the people.”
The County of Santa Clara has already taken a public stand against Donald Trump administration policies, launching the “One County, One Future” campaign to support immigrants. Public anger has intensified nationwide following the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minnesota earlier this month, adding urgency to the Batman moment that has now gone viral.
