According to Singh, he was travelling towards Pennsylvania when he stopped at the Bitter Creek Rest Area along Interstate 80 in southern Wyoming to use the restroom. He noticed a man following him inside but did not initially suspect anything was wrong.
Singh told NPR that the man began beating him before pulling out a knife and stabbing him repeatedly. He suffered injuries to his neck, chest, arms and ribs. After the attacker fled, Singh managed to walk outside but collapsed on the pavement while bleeding heavily. Family Helped Save Sikh Truck Driver
A Hispanic family at the rest area heard the commotion and rushed to help Singh. The family reportedly attended to his injuries and provided information about the suspect's truck to authorities.
Wyoming Highway Patrol officers later located the vehicle near Rawlins, around 70 miles from the rest area, and arrested Bzdak. Singh credited the family with helping save his life.

Motive Behind Wyoming Stabbing Remains Unknown
Charging documents cited in media reports do not establish a motive for the attack. Authorities have not publicly determined whether the stabbing was motivated by Singh's Sikh identity or ethnicity.
The incident has nevertheless drawn attention because it occurred days after the US Department of Homeland Security faced criticism over a now-deleted social media post featuring an Indian truck driver and the surname 'Singh'. The post included the message, 'Get off our roads. You don't know how to drive Mr. Singh.'
DHS later said the post referred to Harjinder Singh, an Indian truck driver accused in connection with a fatal Florida crash, and said attempts to link the Wyoming stabbing to the agency's post were 'reckless and false'.

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Condemns Attack
Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi condemned the stabbing and expressed concern about hostility directed towards Sikh and South Asian Americans. He also called for accountability over violence while expressing support for Singh's recovery.
Congressman Mike Thompson also condemned the incident and called for a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible.
Singh, meanwhile, said he remains shaken by the attack and worried about returning to work. He also expressed concern for other Sikh truck drivers in the US.
