Congress Party Announces 40% Reservation Of Electoral Tickets For Women In Upcoming UP Polls 2022

On October 19, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra announced that 40 per cent of Congress tickets will be reserved for women in the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. This was Gandhi’s first big move ahead of the polls. However, when asked if she would contest the assembly elections, Gandhi said she is yet to take a decision on whether she would herself contest the polls. The Congress leader said that the decision is just the start of empowerment of women, and selection would be done “purely on merit”. BSP chief Mayawati termed Congress party’s move as “pure election drama”. She said the party remembers women, Dalits and backwards only when out of power. Watch the video to know more.
