Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have claimed several lives. On August 14, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu informed that over 50 people have died in the past 24 hours due to landslides and continuous rainfall. CM Sukhu expressed concern that over 20 people are feared to be trapped under debris. Search and rescue operations are in progress. Due to the unfortunate situation in the state, no cultural festivities for Independence Day will be held in the state.
