On the occasion of Samvatsari 2022, people of the Jain community seek forgiveness from one another for hurting people’s feelings and sentiments by their words, actions or deeds, either knowingly or unknowingly. To seek forgiveness, people send across Micchami Dukkadam, which roughly translates to “may all evil that has been done be forgiven”. On this day, Jains are said to perform a penitential retreat called ‘samvatsari pratikramana’, after which they seek forgiveness from others.
