Navratri is a nine days long Hindu festival that is celebrated every year. Though the festival of Navratri is celebrated for different reasons with different rituals across the various parts of the Indian cultural sphere. This year Navratri will begin on October 17 and end on October 25. The main theme of the festival remains same - victory of good over evil. The final day of the festival is called the Vijayadashami or Dussehra. The word Navratri means 'nine nights' in Sanskrit. These nine nights depict the battle that took place between Durga and demon Mahishasura. The nine days of Navratri are solely dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine Avatars – the Navadurga.
