CryptoThe Supreme Court on March 16 rejected the request by one of the convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya case to file a new curative petition against his death sentence. The top court refused to put on hold their execution due this week. Nibhaya’s mother, Asha Devi said, “I have been following the law for the past seven years. I had trust then, I have trust even now that I will get justice. And I will get justice on March 20.” In another eleventh-hour attempt to stall their hanging, three of the four convicts on March 16 petitioned the United Nation's International Court of Justice (ICJ). Akshay Singh, Pawan Gupta & Vinay Sharma approached the World Court on a day the fourth convict, Mukesh Singh, was told by the Supreme Court that he had no legal remedy left. AP Singh, convict’s lawyer said, “NRIs, their organisations were watching the case. Copies of petitions by different organisations came which demanded that case’s records be put before ICJ, urgent hearing be done and death warrant be stayed.”
