In a one of a kind all-women voyage, an all-female multidisciplinary team is set to sail the world's oceans in October 2019 for two years to marine exploration that aims at deriving the magnitude of plastic and toxic materials in the ocean. The team is set to conduct scientific research into the mounting environmental challenges these pollutants pose and is a form of "voyage-cum-scientific mission." The voyage is conducted by an organisation called 'eXXpedition' that covers over 38,000 nautical miles and 30 voyage legs. The special voyage is set to start and end in the United Kingdom and will be headed by Emily Penn, eXXpedition Director and Sky Ocean Rescue Ambassador. The voyage aims for the women to have the first-hand experience of the pollution threats the globe posses because of the amount of plastic debris present in the water bodies. The team consists of 300 women, including scientists, teachers, filmmakers, product designers, photographers and athletes of different ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds.

Beginning October 2019, the voyage will traverse global waters via four gyres: North Atlantic, South Pacific, Indian Ocean, and South Atlantic, and the Arctic. The best part is that even you can even join them for the ride!
