Iran Launches Missile, Drone Attacks on US Bases in Kuwait and Bahrain After American Strikes

The Middle East moved closer to a wider conflict after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched a coordinated missile and drone assault targeting US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain early Sunday. The attacks came hours after the United States carried out fresh strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, marking another sharp escalation in the standoff between Washington and Tehran.

According to the IRGC, the operation was conducted jointly by its navy and aerospace forces in retaliation for US strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, coastal radar installations and other military positions. Kuwait's military said its air defence systems intercepted multiple "hostile" missiles and drones, while Bahrain activated emergency sirens and urged residents to remain calm and seek shelter. There was no immediate confirmation from US officials regarding damage or casualties at the targeted military bases.

The IRGC further accused the United States of violating the ceasefire and warned that continued breaches of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding could derail ongoing diplomatic efforts. The latest exchange followed a second consecutive day of US military strikes after a Panama-flagged oil tanker, M/T Kiku, was attacked near the Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said President Donald Trump authorised strikes on Iranian military assets after alleging Tehran breached the ceasefire by targeting commercial shipping with a one-way attack drone.

President Trump warned on Truth Social that the US could "militarily complete the job" if Iran continued violating the ceasefire, raising fears that the fragile truce could collapse and trigger a broader regional conflict.
