New Delhi/Islamabad, August 8: A day after Pakistan downgraded its ties with India, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Islamabad will review its decision if New Delhi re-thinks on scrapping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday also said India's position that scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter was wrong.

"Are they ready to review their decisions? If they do, we can also review our decisions. Review will be on both sides. That is what Simla (agreement) says," Qureshi said. He further announced that Pakistan would take the matter of India revoking special status for Jammu and Kashmir to the United Nations Security Council. He also questioned India's stand that the change in the constitutional status was aimed at taking steps for the welfare of Kashmiris. Pakistan Suspends Samjhauta Express Services After Article 370 Abrogation From Jammu and Kashmir, But Says Work on Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Will Continue.

Challenging India's stance that the Kashmir move was its "internal matter", Qureshi said former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had declared "countless times" making at least 14 solemn promises and commitments that "the future of Kashmir is going to be decided finally by the goodwill and pleasure of her people", Dawn newspaper reported.

Pakistan on Wednesday expelled the Indian High Commissioner and suspended bilateral trade with India following the abrogation of Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier today, Islamabad also announced a permanent suspension of the cross-border Samjhauta Express train service.

Reacting to Pakistan's moves, India said the actions were aimed at presenting "an alarming picture to the world". India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said New Delhi's actions taken regarding Article 370 "are entirely the internal affair of India" and the Constitution of India "was, is and will always be a sovereign matter". "Seeking to interfere in that jurisdiction by invoking an alarmist vision of the region will never succeed," the MEA said.
