Beijing, August 1: As many as 44 people were injured after a wave machine at a waterpark in China generated a huge wave, according to reports. The incident took place at Shuiyun Water Park on Sunday. The video of the incident, which is widely shared on social media, shows an enormous wave throwing people out of the pool.

According to officials at Shuiyun Water Park, the machine which creates wave malfunctioned resulting in a "tsunami-type" wave in the pool. The officials dismissed reports that suggested the machine was drunk when the accident happened. In the video, a huge wave is seen launching people out of the pool. People's scream and children's cry can also be heard in the video. One woman was on the ground afterward, knees bloodied. Following the incident, an investigation has been launched. The water park is shut for now.
