Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow had accepted US proposals for a settlement of the Ukraine conflict during the August 2025 summit in Anchorage, Alaska. Putin made the remarks during the plenary session of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club on October 1, 2026.

Putin said Russia had initially sought time to consider the proposals presented by the United States but later agreed to them before and during the Anchorage meeting. He stressed that the discussions in Anchorage focused on US proposals rather than Moscow's own proposals.

"We discussed the US proposals," Putin said, adding that he had travelled to Anchorage to communicate Russia's agreement with the American side's proposals. He also said the US had subsequently asked for time to consider the matter further and that Moscow was not insisting on an immediate response. How Russia Recruits Americans and Foreigners for Brutal Ukraine ‘Meatgrinder’ Fronts.
