Washington, June 24: A restaurant in Lexington town of Virginia refused to serve dinner to White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders on Friday. The Trump administration official was "asked to leave" by the restaurant owner as a mark of dissent against the President's "inhumane and cruel" policies.

A person identified as the waiter of The Red Hen, the restaurant which denied serving Sanders, posted a note on Facebook saying he served the White House spokesperson for a "total of 2 minutes" before the chef-owner, Stephanie Wilkinson, asked her to leave.

Sanders confirmed the incident on Twitter saying she was asked to leave "because I work for @POTUS".

Wilkinson, meanwhile, told The Washington Post that she was compelled to deny Sanders service at her restaurant as she is a "defender of cruelest administration".

The chef-owner said her restaurant has employed several gays as staff. Considering President Trump's "anti-transgender policy", she felt it was the moment to mark her angst. Trump had earlier in the year expressed apprehensions against the recruitment of transgenders in the armed forces.

Sanders is not the only Trump administration official who has been ill-treated in the public. On Tuesday, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen was heckled at a Mexican eatery in Washington. The protesters raised slogans against the policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the border.

On Thursday, protesters at another Mexican eatery hurled slogans against White House adviser Stephen Miller, calling him a "fascist".
