Ahmedabad, Jul 24 (PTI) Former BJP MLA Ramilaben Desai today quit the Congress to return to the saffron party.

Desai had earlier served as the state general secretary as well as the member of the executive committee of the Gujarat Congress, said a release issued by the state unit of the BJP.

Desai was inducted into the party by Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani at the party headquarters in Gandhinagar in the presence of BJP leaders.

Desai was elected as an MLA from Kheralu seat in Mehsana district in 2002 on the BJP ticket. She had also served as the president of the BJP-ruled Ahmedabad district panchayat in 1995.

Desai said she left the Congress because of intense infighting among the party leaders.

"I was feeling uneasy in the Congress because of the negative approach of the party, internal differences, infighting and conspiracies. That is why I have decided to come back to the BJP, which is my home. This is a home coming for me", Desai was quoted as saying by the release.
