Noida, May 12 (PTI) Union ministers Harsh Vardhan and Mahesh Sharma laid the foundation stone for redevelopment and upgradation work of the Botanic Garden of Indian Republic (BGIR) here.

On the occasion, Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan said BGIR will be developed as one of the most distinctive landscapes of the national capital region .

Sharma, the Union minister of state for environment, forest and climate change, said this is the largest botanical garden in the national capital region and would be developed as an important tourist destination.

He said it is estimated that the project would cost around Rs 400 crores and the first phase of the project would be completed this year itself.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Dara Singh Chauhan and local MLA Pankaj Singh were also present on the occasion.
