Karimganj (Assam) [India], October 23 (ANI): Two accused have been arrested with 1.1 kilograms of suspected heroin in Assam's Karimganj district on Monday, police said.

Based on intelligence input, a vehicle coming from a neighbouring state was intercepted and after a thorough search, 1.1 kilograms of suspected heroin was recovered and subsequently seized. Along with the drugs, two persons have been apprehended on the spot, police said.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X and congratulated Karimganj Police for the successful anti-narcotics operation.

"Based on actionable intelligence an anti-narcotics operation was carried out by @karimganjpolice and a vehicle coming from a neighbouring State was intercepted. 81 soap cases containing 1.1 kg of suspected heroin was seized and two persons have been apprehended in this regard. Kudos @assampolice! #AssamAgainstDrugs," the CM said in a post.

Earlier on October 22, Karimganj district police launched an operation at the Khagail area and recovered 12,000 Yaba tablets and 15 grams of heroin. (ANI)
