Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 25 (ANI): Former Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Saturday said that he will install a statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Uppal stadium on his birth anniversary on August 20.
"Though the stadium was named after the late Rajiv Gandhi, his statue was not erected. I will bring the statue on 20 August on Rajiv Gandhi's birthday. We will invite Priyanka Gandhi to come and inaugurate. I hope Revanth Reddy (Telangana Chief Minister) will also support it," he told ANI.

Earlier, Rao had appealed to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to install the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the main entrance of the Uppal stadium.
He said that it was disappointing that though the stadium was named after the late Rajiv Gandhi, the HCA had not taken the initiative to erect the statue. He had raised the issue in a recent annual general meeting of the HCA. (ANI)
