India News | Himachal Pradesh: Bharmaur MLA Janak Raj Praises NHAI for Saving Infant on Oxygen Support Amid Landslides

Bharmaur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 23 (ANI): Bharmaur MLA Janak Raj on Thursday lauded the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for rescuing a seven-month-old infant on oxygen support after the child and family were stranded due to road blockages caused by heavy rains and landslides on National Highway (NH) 154-A.

Speaking about the incident, Raj said NHAI personnel displayed exceptional courage and humanitarian commitment despite continuous rainfall and hazardous conditions while working to restore road connectivity in the Bharmaur region.

"NH 154-A is now directly under the supervision of the Central Government. Earlier, people travelling on this road had to risk their lives and depend on fate because of its poor condition. The NHAI has assured that the highway will be fully improved and made safe within a year," he said.

According to the MLA, the emergency unfolded after landslides blocked the highway from both directions, leaving a family carrying a seven-month-old infant, who was dependent on oxygen support, stranded on the road.

"Realising the urgency of the situation, the NHAI highway patrol team acted without delay and safely transported the infant and the family to a hospital using patrol vehicles," Raj said.

He said NHAI personnel continued road restoration work despite active landslides and continuous rockfall while simultaneously extending assistance to stranded commuters.

"The team's dedication under such dangerous conditions is a remarkable example of public service, courage and humanitarian responsibility," he said.

Raj also appreciated the efforts of NHAI officials and workers engaged in restoring connectivity in the region despite adverse weather.

Appealing to the public, he urged people to avoid non-essential travel during the ongoing spell of heavy rain and to strictly follow advisories issued by the administration and concerned departments.

"People should travel only when absolutely necessary, remain cautious, stay away from landslide-prone areas and swollen streams, and immediately contact the administration in case of any emergency," he added. (ANI)
