Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 3 (ANI): A controversy has erupted at Government Medical College (GMC) Doda after Doda MLA Mehraj Malik alleged an examination paper leak and sought an immediate inquiry, while the college administration categorically denied the allegations.

In a letter addressed to the Principal of GMC Doda, Malik said he had received information from reliable sources regarding an alleged paper leak that reportedly took place on August 2.

The MLA requested the preservation of CCTV footage recorded between 5 pm and 9 pm, covering the area from the main gate to the academic section through the Principal's office lobby, to ensure that no evidence is deleted or tampered with.

He also called for a fair and impartial inquiry and urged the college administration to preserve all relevant records, including CCTV footage, examination material, attendance records and other related evidence.

A copy of the letter was also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, Doda.

Responding to the allegations, GMC Doda issued an official circular stating that reports of an examination paper leak being circulated on social media were "false, baseless and misleading."

The college clarified that no examination paper had been leaked at the institution and appealed to the public not to believe or circulate unverified information.

As of now, the allegations remain unverified. While the MLA has sought an investigation into the matter, the college administration has denied any paper leak, and no official inquiry confirming the allegations has been announced.

The allegations at GMC Doda come after the broader controversy over NEET paper leaks, which triggered protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and led to the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. (ANI)
